INTRODUCTION

This section gives details of each of the items of rolling stock situated at Robertsbridge and which may be seen during a visit to the Rother Valley Railway. Please note however that our steam locomotive “Charwelton” is away on long term loan to the Kent & East Sussex Railway.

It is up to date but information is always being learned and added, and the Railway has an on-going programme of restoration so the appearance of some vehicles may change. It does not include details of vehicles that were previously located on the Railway but which have now moved on.

The Railway owns a few of the vehicles itself but some are owned by members and private individuals and are on loan to the Railway.

Some vehicles unfortunately still present a forlorn and rather derelict appearance having suffered from a combination of long periods of neglect, the ravages of the English weather and in some cases the unwelcome attention of vandals. We will get all the stock fully restored but there are constraints both in terms of financial resources and the availability of labour which is all voluntary.
