BUILT BY MANNING WARDLE IN 1917 (MW no 1955/17).

TECHNICAL DATA;

SUPPLIED NEW TO THE PARKGATE IRON AND STEEL COMPANY OF CHARWELTON, NORTHAMPTONSHIRE. SHE WORKED AT THAT LOCATION HAULING IRONSTONE QUARRY TRAINS FOR OVER 25 YEARS. IN MARCH 1942, SHE WAS TRANSFERRED BY PARKGATE TO THEIR SPROXTON QUARRY IN LINCOLNSHIRE. THE QUARRY RAILWAY AT SPROXTON CLOSED IN 1963 AND THE LOCOMOTIVE WAS PURCHASED BY THE K&ESR LOCOMOTIVE TRUST, ARRIVING AT TENTERDEN ON THE 2 JANUARY 1964. THE LOCOMOTIVE WAS SOLD IN 1976 FOR RESTORATION AWAY FROM THE RAILWAY. IT RETURNED TO THE KESR IN SEPTEMBER 1982.

ON LONG TERM LOAN TO THE KENT & EAST SUSSEX RAILWAY - KESR STOCK NO 14. THE LOCOMOTIVE IS PAINTED IN ITS ORIGINAL LINED UMBER LIVERY. Image

DREWRY 0-4-0 Locomotive

DREWRY CAR CO LTD NO 2251. BUILT BY THE VULCAN FOUNDRY AT NEWTON-LE-WILLOWS IN 1947. WEIGHT (in working order) 22.75 TONS. DIESEL MECHANICAL.

ENGINE: GARDNER 6L3 DIESEL. 150HP. 6 CYLINDER.
TRANSMISSION: HYDRAULIC COUPLING, WILSON CA4 EPICYCLIC GEARBOX, RF11 REVERSE AND FINAL DRIVE.

NEW TO THE BARKING JETTY CO LTD IN 1947, WHERE IT WAS NAMED “MR USEFUL”. THE LOCOMOTIVE LATER MOVED TO THE BRISTOL MECHANISED COAL CO LTD AT FILTON, THEN ONTO THE STONEHOUSE COAL DEPOT BY 1966 WHERE IT WAS RENAMED “DOUGAL”. 

ARRIVED AT THE ROTHER VALLEY RAILWAY IN SEPTEMBER 2005.

DREWRY 0-4-0 Locomotive

“TITAN”

DREWRY CAR CO LTD NO. 2279. BUILT BY THE VULCAN FOUNDRY AT NEWTON-LE-WILLOWS IN 1951. WORKS NO. D140. WEIGHT (APPROX.) 25 TONS. DIESEL MECHANICAL.

ENGINE: GARDNER 6L3 DIESEL. 150HP. 6 CYLINDER.
TRANSMISSION: HYDRAULIC COUPLING, WILSON CA4 EPICYCLIC GEARBOX, RF11 REVERSE AND FINAL DRIVE.

THE LOCOMOTIVE IS BELIEVED TO HAVE SPENT ITS INDUSTRIAL LIFE AT HOO ON THE ISLE OF GRAIN. IT BECAME REDUNDANT AND AFTER A FEW YEARS OUT OF SERVICE, IT WAS DUE TO BE SCRAPPED. IT WAS HOWEVER RESCUED AND PURCHASED PRIVATELY AND TRANSFERRED TO THE KENT & EAST SUSSEX RAILWAY IN NOVEMBER 1987, BECOMING KESR STOCK NO 43.

ON LOAN TO THE ROTHER VALLEY RAILWAY FROM APRIL 2002.

EX BRITISH RAILWAYS CLASS 03 Locomotive D2112

BUILT BY BRITISH RAILWAYS AT DONCASTER IN 1960. BR NOS D2112:  03 112

WEIGHT (in working order) 30.7 TONS. DIESEL MECHANICAL.
ENGINE: GARDNER 8L3 DIESEL. 204HP. 8 CYLINDER. TRANSMISSION: WILSON-DREWRY CA5 5-SPEED EPICYCLIC GEARBOX. DUAL BRAKE FITTED.

WITHDRAWN BY BR IN JULY 1987, IT WAS PURCHASED AND WORKED ON THE NENE VALLEY RAILWAY FROM 1991 TO 1998. IT SUBSEQUENTLY HAD SPELLS WORKING AT BRITISH SUGAR PETERBOROUGH AND THE PORT OF BOSTON (BOSTON DOCKS).

PURCHASED THROUGH THE GENEROSITY OF A BENEFACTOR THE LOCOMOTIVE ARRIVED AT THE ROTHER VALLEY RAILWAY IN JULY 2012. IT IS IN ORIGINAL (PRE-TOPS) BR LIVERY. Image

BUILT BY PERMAQUIP (NOW PART OF HARSCO TRACK TECHNOLOGY LTD) AS ONE OF THEIR RANGE OF SMALL SPECIALISED TRACK MACHINES.

ORIGINALLY DESIGNED AND USED AS A TRACK CLIP REMOVER BUT NOW RESTRICTED TO A GENERAL PURPOSE  MACHINE FOR PERMANENT WAY MAINTENANCE AND HAULAGE OF OUR TRACK TROLLEY. SPENT MOST OF ITS WORKING LIFE IN EAST ANGLIA, BASED AT NORWICH.

2 CYLINDER LISTER-PETTER AIR COOLED DIESEL ENGINE WITH ELECTRIC START. HYDRAULIC DRIVE WITH POWER TAKE OFFS AND INTEGRAL JACKS AND A TURNTABLE.

ARRIVED AT THE ROTHER VALLEY RAILWAY IN OCTOBER 2003. Image
